Three kids can do an awful lot of damage in a very short period of time. I am looking around the family room searching for the rug that I know is there somewhere. Seems like every toy and Lego is scattered throughout the house. We put up shelves and toys bins, but nope, the kids prefer to toss their toys around. It really does look like my house has been ransacked. Every surface has cut up pieces of paper and is sticky with glue from all the crafts my daughter makes all day long. There are toy parts on the couch, in the couch, under the couch. Chairs are knocked over. Why must kids disassemble toys and throw some parts behind couches and stuff others in heating vents. Basically, any little opening or available surface is inviting to them. My house though, not so much. Looking forward to adding more toys to the floor this weekend. Oh joy. Happy Holidays to all those Greater Than One Moms out there!!!!

Boy girl twins are doing their thing to become potty trained.... lot's of entertainment along the way. . . . → Read More: Potty Training, Toy Story and Underwear – Oh My!

So, potty training boy girl twins… a bit of a trick and a kick. Let’s start with my son is in love with Toy Story. So it was more an interest in Toy Story Pull-Ups then the act of really wanting to sit on the potty and pee for my 2 year old son, Artie. So here is how it has gone down so far. The potties have been collecting dust in the bathroom for about a month. There has been some interest, but not a whole lot of motivation. Then my twin 2 year old daughter, Deia, decided one day that she was ready to give it a whirl. We squeaked out a little pea. She immediately decided it was time to wear underwear like her 6 year old big sister, Shaila. So into her sister’s drawer she flew, hid the diaper and replaced it with a favorite pair of Shaila’s underwear. I noticed within minutes, and told her she would have to use the potty if she had to go. Deia was all excited to be a big girl. It was not even an hour before she pooped her sister’s favorite panties. Ugh. War. It has been 2 months, she was so freaked out she just yesterday made a poop on the potty for the first time. Panties are now worn on top of Princess or Dora Pull-Ups. But not just any Princess or Dora designs… Cinderella must be visible or Dora must be wearing flip flops. Really? I sneak the other designs in when she is too tired to care. We are 90% pee-pee potty trained at least.

Now, it is my first time with the whole Pee Pee – Pee Pee-ing. It was real clear how to teach Shaila- in fact, she kind of self taught- a little about the proper wiping techniques and we were done. Now, Artie looks to his big sister and twin sister for guidance, which has not been very productive for him. So the funniest thing- one night about a month ago, Artie decided it was time for his potty debut. He pulled off his wet diaper and sat on the potty and squeezed a few drops out. He was so excited, he ran out, threw away the diapers, and dug into the back of his drawer where a 3 pack of boxer briefs stood untouched for months- how he knew they were there is beyond me. He ripped open the Toy Story Pull Ups, and began layering. Pull-up (on sideways) + 3 pairs of underwear on 1 leg each. His grin shined ear to ear. How do you mess with that? Well, I managed to get the pull-up on correctly, and agreed to a pair of underwear… he was having none of that. That night Artie slept in a pull-up and 3 pairs of underwear and refused Pajamas. So a month later, we have some irregular potty patterns but at least we are down to Toy Story Pull-ups, one at a time only.

So my babies are growing up… and I am thrilled to almost be done with the diaper era. And in some bizarre way, I will miss it terribly. At least I am getting a lot of laughs along the way.
